CINCO DE MAYO
|
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is
a holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over
French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Spanish teachers
presented the history of Cinco De Mayo to their students prior to May 5.
They then celebrated by
performing some traditional activities of the Mexicans.
They played “Pin the Tail
on the Donkey” and made paper flowers.
Students also supplied
Mexican food for the festivity. After the fiesta, the
students all agreed that the next project should have been
. . . a siesta! |
