MIC/SADD AWARENESS PROGRAMS

On April 8,  MIC/SADD sponsored two programs for Juniors and Seniors, who attended the programs during their history classes.  There was a DUI Simulator and the Pullayouee Program.  Both programs are sponsored by the PA DUI Association to educate teenagers about the dangers of drinking and driving.

DUI SIMULATOR

The DUI Simulator was located in the faculty parking lot.  "The simulator is engineered to demonstrate the loss of control one would experience if operating a motor vehicle while in an impaired state. While students were able to experience the sensation from behind the wheel, an equally valuable lesson is afforded backseat passengers. The youth who are “along for the ride” soon realize the helpless position they would be put in as passengers in the car of an impaired driver."

PULLAYOUEE PROGRAM

"Pullayouee refers to turning around the concept that "everyone is doing it," underage drinking that is!  U-Turn challenges 16-20 year old Pennsylvanians to rethink their misconceptions about alcohol use and underage driving under the influence. The mission is to eliminate these life-changing and often deadly behaviors. The campaign utilizes traditional media outlets such as posters, bumper stickers, TV, and radio ads.

We need YOUR help in getting the word out to as many 16 to 20 year-olds as possible to visit (and re-visit) the website, attend events, etc.
